Yes. Alliance Trust PLC currently conducts its affairs so that its shares can be recommended by IFAs to ordinary retail investors in accordance with the FCA’s rules in relation to non-mainstream investment products, and intends to continue to do so for the foreseeable future. The shares are excluded from the FCA’s restrictions which apply to non-mainstream investment products, because they are shares in an Investment Trust.

No. We do not offer these ourselves. You can, however, buy and hold our shares in an ISA or other investment wrapper offered by a number of investment platforms.

Alliance Trust’s Board has designed a unique structure to achieve its investment goals. The Alliance Trust Board has appointed Towers Watson Investment Management Limited (TWIM) as its Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM). TWIM is part of Willis Towers Watson plc. On this website we refer to TWIM as ‘Willis Towers Watson’ or ‘WTW’.

Willis Towers Watson is responsible for setting the overall investment direction for the Trust and supervising the Trust’s ten best-in-class* equity managers. Most of these managers are not accessible to individual investors in the UK.

Craig Baker, Global Chief Investment Officer at Willis Towers Watson, chairs the Investment Committee that manages the Alliance Trust portfolio. The Investment Committee is responsible for the implementation of Alliance Trust’s investment proposition on behalf of WTW.

Alliance Trust PLC pays its dividends quarterly on or about the end of December, March, June and September. 

If you are a named shareholder, you can do this simply by contacting the Registrars.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Yes you can. Full details will be given in the Notice of Annual General Meeting, which we send to shareholders ahead of the meeting. There is also a convenient online proxy voting service provided by our Registrars. Find more information on electronic shareholder communications.

Yes you can. To do this, you will need to access the Registrars' website. Please have your shareholder reference number to hand, which you can find on your share certificate and dividend tax voucher. Definitely not. We believe it’s really important that the private shareholder's voice is heard at the AGM. So there is no cost for attending if the shares are registered in your own name.

If you hold your Alliance Trust shares through a nominee and they arrange for you to attend our AGM as their proxy, we will not make a charge but the nominee may.
